Portrait of Dr. Kelly Alexander, strategic advisor at TIGC

Dr. Kelly Alexander

Coming from a deep conviction that Africa and Europe work better together, Dr. Kelly Alexander advises companies and leaders on how to navigate both continents. She helps them understand each other and build strategies that work in both places. She advises on strategy, policy, and sustainability — the practical side of making the two continents work together.

She holds a PhD in management and organisation studies and brings academic rigour to commercial conversations without slipping into academic language. She believes most policy conversations between Africa and Europe don't have enough focus on what's really happening in business. That conviction led her to cofound Meridian17, an Africa-Europe business-focused think tank where she brings daily business reality into policy dialogue.

She is a proud "Joburg girl" and holds both South African and Dutch nationalities. She is faculty at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) in Johannesburg, and a visiting lecturer at several European and African business schools. She lives between Johannesburg and the Netherlands.

Approach

How I work

"Clearer, not simpler"

The Africa-Europe relationship is genuinely complicated. It doesn't simplify from either side. I help you see what's actually happening. I don't pretend it's neater than it is.

"Connected on both sides"

I work with business schools, think tanks, and policy makers across both continents. You get genuine relationships with the people and institutions who understand the ground reality on both sides.

"Synthesis and judgement"

The value I add is synthesis and judgement across a relationship most people only see one end of — not running a research operation or staffing a project.
